Social
Claim brands on popular media. I have a few for my blog already, Twitter & Pinterest and a separate Google+. Plus, Goodreads of course. I've stayed away from Facebook in the past, because I've made an effort to keep my writing and real personality separate online and I use Facebook as the true be a bit. Additionally, I have a hard enough time being active on the networks I already am on that I've been hesitant to set up a Facebook presence. This week though, I'll do it. However, the next question is, do I have a page for me as an author or a separate account? If anyone has suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
Here's to hoping to gain 1 new follower on all channels in this week. That means I'm hoping to have 112 Twitter followers, 54 Pinterest ones, and be in 100 Google+ circles. Because the Facebook one is new, I'm expecting no increases there.
E-mail
Choose an online mail provider. I've heard advice for building a list a lot. I've always held off because I've never been sure how to make e-mails different than my blog posts. I didn't want to repeat messages or hassle people. But since the plan calls for it, I'll have to do it. Thankfully, this week doesn't require me to actually come up with a way to differentiate the two, just set up a venue through which to do it. There is however a bunch of e-mail service providers (ESPs) that exist in the world. Anyone have experience with one or the other?
Analytics
Set up a Google Analytics account. Have had one of these for a while for Fulfulling Dreams and damn, I love looking at the numbers. However, I'm not entirely sure I'm looking at the right ones.
Content
Start a corporate blog and give knowledge away for free. I sorta already do this. At the very least, I've started giving out writing samples for free and provide knowledge in terms of book reviews. I also hope I'm entertaining. Still, I'm going to guess this step is for bloggers in a little different position than me. It's interesting to note that Gardner suggests blogging before you have a product to sell. I had done that, but now it's just a point of turning traffic into profit. Let's hope this works!
